Gil Mantera's Party Dream is an American electronic synthpop party band from Youngstown, Ohio — Gil Mantera and Ultimate Donny, where Donny plays guitar and sings while Gil plays keyboards, bass and sings Gil-style.
Known for their over-the-top live shows and updated channeling of 1980s synthpop, their music blends synth-heavy electronic dance music with heavy basslines, distorted guitar, and progressive rock influences. Sets include not only musical performance but also improvised stage banter, dance, and at times... chaos.
The band toured nationwide on the Vans Warped Tour and sold out prestigious venues like New York's Knitting Factory, Chicago's Empty Bottle, Cleveland's Grog Shop, among others. Their music attracted the attention of The Black Keys' Patrick Carney, who released GMPD's "Bloodsongs" on his Audio Eagle label. A documentary film about the band — the story of the craziest live band you've never seen — followed their unlikely journey growing up together in hard-scrabble Youngstown, Ohio.
After a 15-year hiatus, the Party Dream is (was?) back.
